It is required of every candidate to possess some ability in either German or English.



A complete application consists of:

  1. The application form (PDF)
  2. a recent photo
  3.  Audition (YouTube link only)
  4.  Bank receipt for the payment of the application fee  CHF 80 / CHF 100

Application Form
The application form must be filled out in full and sent to the Director by email (PDF, no scans or JPGs).  Please try to include everything in ONE email.

Auditions (no mandatory pieces)
Strings:  2 pieces of choice
Piano:    2 pieces of choice
Only Youtube recordings with direct link will be accepted.  The audition material must be sent at the same time as the application, not afterwards.

Strings:  from one's current repertoire
Piano:    solo pieces, no accompaniments or sonatas with other                instruments

Closing date for application/Application fee
There are two closing dates for application:

  • February 29: all parts of the application including the audition link and the application fee of CHF 80
  • March 15:  all parts of the application including the audition link and the application fee of CHF 100

It is advisable to send the application as early as possible and to profit from the lower application fee. The application fee must be sent at the same time and will not be refunded whether the candidate is accepted or not.  Incomplete or late applications will not be considered. 


Procedure for selection of candidates and notification of acceptance

Applicants will be notified of acceptance or non-acceptance  shortly after March 15th by email.  Applicants must be available by email and must check their emails regularly, especially between March 15th and 20th. 


Directly following notification of acceptance, applicants MUST confirm their participation within 24 hours by email, otherwise they risk their invitation.


Applicants are accepted for the entire two weeks only.



It goes without saying that accepted applicants will definitely participate in Astona.  In the case of a cancellation, fees will be refunded based on the reasons for as well as the time of cancellation.  


Those wishing to audit the course may do so for a flat fee of CHF 80 per day or CHF 400 per week.


Auditors will be provided with the daily schedule and the concert calendar and are afforded free entry to any Astona concerts taking place during their attendance.


Practise rooms, pianos and lessons with Astona faculty-members are not available to auditors.


Meals and accommodations for auditors are off-campus, and it is up to the auditor to arrange them.


The number of auditors will be limited. Auditors must register with the director by email by latest June 1st and pay their fee by latest  July 1st. .


Application fee
CHF 50 / CHF 80 

Candidates whose applications reach the director before February 28 pay an application fee of CHF 50.

For applications between March 1st and 15th, the application fee is CHF 80.  Early applications are encouraged.  Applications without payment of the application fee will not be considered.  The application fee is non-refundable, no matter whether the candidate is accepted or not.

Tution fee

The full tuition fee is CHF 2'100.The private lessons, chamber music coaching, orchestra rehearsals and performances and musical care are subsidised by Astona International. 


The tution fee of 1'480 covers the expenses for lodging and full board at the Lassalle-Haus.

Travel expenses, pocket money and health insurance

must be assumed by the students



Only the generous support of our sponsors makes it possible for us to offer our summer academy at such a low price.  Their contribution is vital to enabling us to  provide comprehensive  private instruction as well as chamber music and orchestra to all participants.

Scholarships are very limited and are awarded only to students who are truly dependent upon them.  In this case - and prior to applying -  a request for the application form for scholarship must be sent to the director with a clear explanation of why a scholarship is considered necessary.  Should the director send the applicant a scholarship form, this must be filled out in full and included with the application materials.  The awarding of scholarships will be decided at the time the applications are processed.


An application for a scholarship AFTER being notified of acceptance will not be considered. 

The course fee must arrive in the Astona account by latest May 15th.
